About Stories, Happiness & The Genda Project

We at The Genda Project (TGP) have been crazy busy running around Jet-Set Nadi this week trying to organise our 2nd Genda Connections event this year! Nadi with it's balmy wintery breezes is slowly getting warmed up about our #GendaConnectionsNadi #GendaBusiness event happening on Saturday June 11th at Life Cinemas.

While Suva is well acquainted with Genda Connections events from our March event, Nadi is still trying to grasp this new, innovative platform open to share stories & ideas. So we thought to share again with Nadi what The Genda Project is all about.

The Genda Project is simply about you. It's about finding you.

Today while we are connected to all aspects of life via technology, modern travel and a freedom to pursue things not so possible few decades back, some of us have lost that connection to ourselves. Be it career expectations, family obligations, civic duties or just living the norm - it's very easy to get caught in the whirlwinds of life. It's cliched but we all are looking for something that makes our hearts sing and it's amazing how as adults we have a notion that happiness is something of our childhood. As we grow up, our lives are not defined by what makes us happy but what is right or wrong.

And ours is a culture where we don't really talk about...stuff. Living in the Pacific, tucked in a Fijian suburban community, we don’t really do deep. Most of us are never even compelled to question ourselves. Our surnames, our relationships, our faiths, our cultures, our jobs, our social media bios are definitive enough.

The Genda Project is an initiative to break that norm.  The Genda Project provides you the space and the platform to venture out, discover the possibilities and connect to others and ultimately to your own self. The Genda Project is all about finding what makes you happy. We all have a story within us. And one day it has to be told. Through a number of organized events, The Genda Project connects you to different individuals to share your stories. Our Genda Interactions events are small and intimate while our Genda Connections events are public talks on a large scale. Our events are tailored to put you out of your comfort zone, question you, make you question others and to inspire you!

The Genda Project Founder & Event Curator of Genda Connections, Sharon Narayan started the organisation in 2015 hoping to inspire Fijians to pursue happiness & find themselves in this small island nation of ours instead of migrating overseas for green pastures. At GC Suva in her opening speech Sharon said, "the grass is the greenest where you choose to stand."

Our live talk events; Genda Connections strives to connect Fijian audiences to local individuals breaking the norms and living their dreams. By providing these individuals a platform to share their ideas and stories, we hope to disrupt and motivate a new generation of Fijians to toso, reach out and live in the pursuit of their happiness with integrity. We hope to move, inspire and ultimately make our audiences realise the value of making their own stories count. We believe that these stories have to power to change people’s lives; their thinking, their attitudes and their contribution to the wider community. Through Genda Connections we hope to spark conversations that matter and ultimately a more conscious thinking society.

Sometimes the only person you need to prove anything to is you.

Take that step. Venture, Discover & Connect

Genda Connections Nadi has been carefully curated with 8 amazing speakers who have put up their hands to share their stories - LIVE! So Nadi - see you at June 11th! x
